The basic sound is muted to a very soft level, which is ideal for hotel rooms etc. The complete range of the tenor trombone plays incredibly good with a wonderful intonation in both the lower and higher registers.

This is the best practice mute I have ever used. I've tried at least seven others. Most have too much back pressure and they can get wonky in certain ranges and volumes. Ben's mute allows very even playing across the range with good clarity and surprisingly clear articulation... and it is very quiet! I am using it on a Williams 6 tenor trombone with 8 inch bell.
